“Improving the victim-oriented approach – a tool enhancing the capacity to fight violence against women and domestic violence”
is implemented with the support of Norwegian grants under the slogan “Working together for a green, competitive and inclusive Europe”. It follows on the successful implementation of the project of Creating a Coordinating-Methodical Centre for gender-based and domestic violence. Based on the principle of partnership between the responsible institutions, it focuses on promoting a coordinated response of helping professions and strengthening an approach that responds to the needs of women and their children experiencing violence.
Beneficiary of the project is the Institute for Labour and Family Research and partners of the project are Academy of the Police Force of Slovak Republic, the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies, the General Directorate of the Corps of Prison and Court Guard and the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.
- Bring up-to-date knowledge on the protection of women and their children from violence.
- Establish coordinated protection against violence through the work of regional coordinators.
- Strengthen activities aimed at the primary prevention of domestic and gender-based violence.
- Improve procedures to prevent secondary victimization, by increasing the availability of special interrogation rooms.
- Through specialized training, create preconditions for the establishment of police teams of specialists focused on the investigation of cases of domestic and gender-based violence.
- Implement programs for perpetrators and provide lectures for young people aimed at preventing violence against women.

The total amount of the grant: € 1,300,000.
The total amount of the grant from Norway is € 1,105,000. The project is co-financed in the amount of €195,000 from the state budget of the Slovak Republic. The Norway Grants represent Norway’s contribution towards a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
Through the Norway Grants, Norway contributes to reducing social and economic disparities and to strengthening bilateral relations with beneficiary countries in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltics.
